Process & Production
Treating acidic or basic brines, with high concentrations of organic and anorganic, is a great challenge
Water (re)use requirements are growing and wastewater disposal is under increasing environmental pressure
Processing brines to reduce environmental impact
Worldwide, many process- and production companies are being forced to minimize their impact on the environment. Increasing number of companies are aware about their impact on the environment and started voluntary strategic sustainability programs.
As an example, leather tanneries. There is currently a lot of awareness about the impact this industry has on the environment. A lot of water is used during the processing of leather. Once this water is used in production, it contains high levels of organic, chemicals and salts. Therefore, processing these brines is extremely important. If these brines are not concentrated, lots of clean water is lost and when discharged and the environment is unnecessarily affected with all its consequences.
Process & Production
- Impact on environment must me minimized
- Residual streams can no longer be discharged into the environment
The Dyvar® technology
A robust, reliable treatment system producing freshwater from produced water and waste waters
Because of the broad scope of application of our robust Dyvar® technology, it is well suitable for processing brines and residues that are extremely acidic or basic and contain high concentrations of organics. By applying our proven technology, it is now possible to process these brines into clean water and salt crystals.
A good example where our Dyvar® technology has proven itself are tanneries and chemical production sites. We already successfully applied our Dyvar® technology in these industries. As a result, it is now possible to concentrate and crystallize these mixed brines into high-quality condensate (TDS <150mg/L and COD <150mg/L) and salt crystals. Throughout this process the reuse of the concentrated salts is also considered.
Beside the concentration and crystallization of waste brines in these industries, our Dyvar® Technology is increasingly required improve the concentration of feed stock brines and (semi-finished) product. This to improve the production process or to increase the trading requirements of the liquids. Our specialized team is eager to learn how we can also deploy our Dyvar® technology in your production process to improve the output.
Why you should choose Dyvar®:
- Fully automated operation, 24/7, little operator attendance
- Electricity as single energy source
- Capability of treating a wide range of brines with fluctuating TDS
- Capability of treating a wide range of COD (100-20.000mg/l) and wide pH range (1-14)
- Adjustable brine outlet concentration possible (oversaturated brine or salt crystals)
- All-in-one unit, combining desalination, concentration and crystallization
- Compact, containerized, modular plug and play solution possible
- Up to 40% less energy needed compared to conventional Zero Liquid Discharge systems
Dyvar® in practice
Two different input samples of tannery brine
- TDS> 85,000 mg/L
- COD> 10.000 mg/L
Dyvar concentration & crystallization results
- Salts produced 80% dm
- Condensate TDS<150 mg/L
- COD< 150 mg/L
