Lactoprot, a German dairy company, contacted Salttech about their RO brine problem. Specific components in the brine caused scaling in their conventional evaporator and crystallizer when treating the brine, resulting in operational disturbances and high operational costs. To solve the problem, Lactoprot was looking for a compact and energy efficient system and after a technology selection they saw the DyVaR technology as the most suitable option.

Salttech, together with their client, mapped out a plan to develop a sustainable solution for the problem. After a pre-study, a pilot test was performed with a DyVaR-1 pilot unit to show the capabilities of DyVaR. The pilot test was very successful, resulting in a clean water stream and precipitated salt.

After execution of the pilot test, Salttech and Lactoprot will together work towards the full scale.
